Established in 1989, our collection has grown to over 15,000 different buttons and caters for all aspects of popular fashion and the creative community.
Our aim is to provide quality buttons in a relaxed and friendly environment that sparks creativity and the imagination.
Our collection includes Couture enamelled buttons, Swarovski crystal and diamanté, glass, vintage, hand carved polyester, novelty, metal, plastics and polymers, and a full range of natural products: shells, wood, coconut, horn, bone, corozo, bamboo, leather, ceramic, among others.
We aim to provide quality buttons at reasonable prices; we travel the globe searching for our stock, and have buttons from every continent (except Antarctica ...yet). We have long-standing relationships with our suppliers, and aim to be ethically considerate in our buying choices with a strong interest in Fair Trade.
Our history
Ever been to Amsterdam, shopping for buttons, and had a déjà vu moment? You may have stumbled across our sister shop, the Knopen Winkel, located in the canal district of the Negen Straatjes (Nine Streets). Owner, Thea de Boer, commissioned Dutch furniture maker, Oscar Prieckaerts, to design and make the shop fittings, and then sent him across the globe to Newtown to do the same for us. Next time you take a trip to Amsterdam, visit the Knopen Winkel - you'll find an eclectic mix of buttons and treasures from around the globe - and give "de groeten" from us!
